The Sunday Morning Lounge

What does your Sunday morning ceremonial observance look like?

There are no religious observances of any kind here, however I definitely hold sacred to my Sunday morning rituals. They ground me, put me at ease, and sometimes even in a contemplative state of mind. Most Sunday’s are spent in solitude. Just me, my music, coffee, some reading material, coupled with a few hours of kick back on the sofa staring at the sky, watching the birds take flight.

It’s a meditation of sorts, one with my eyes open. -tM

A Private Refuge

An Italian Baroque Palace turned elegant hotel in which the architects and design team honoured the existing structure of the space. I am enchanted by its beauty and elegance. Sensual and simple marries tradition and discretion. -tM

The cultivation of Intimacy, whether it be through friendships, lovers, family, or with yourself, that is the way to love. An intimate inclusion that allows you to become more then what you are. It is worth every effort; every heartbreak. It is growth by fire. -tM

Winter, You have a Contender

in keeping with NY Fashion week and its runway inspiration, this feels so right about now. Although I think I have officially traded in any style or elegance for the necessary survival gear. The only creativity applied to my attire lately is how to layer in order to keep warm. The struggle is real folks. First world problems, 2019. -tM

The Invisible Power of Music

There is this sacred conversation that happens between the soul and the music being played.

Music heard so deeply, that it is not heard at all, but you become the music.

You cannot touch it, yet with precision you converse with its beat.

And when it leaves you, it changes you.

It always changes you. -tM

The Urban Pastoral

I get lost in the light, the shape, the implied movement, frozen, yet incredibly fluid. I have never had pool photography feel like a pastoral painting; calm, relaxed, and expansive.

Compact in frame, its reach is almost mythical. The prophetic powers of the elusive pool mermaids, enticing us to come closer and live with them, if only momentarily, beneath the urban sea. -tM

The Promise of a Good Shoe

One of the thrills, for me, when it comes to shoes, is that they elevate my spirit so much that I feel weightless.

Like a feather I float along, feeling the psychological power brought on by my shoe selection. There is a reason those ruby red slippers had the power to take Dorothy home.

Don’t EVER underestimate the investment in a good pair of shoes. They will give back to you in ways you had never expected. So if you have to scrimp and save for that pair that you have been dreaming about, please do, because they will be well worth there weight/wait in gold. -tM

The Creation,

and touch of child, this really is the closest one will get to the purity and divinity of the universe. They are everything that we should be and beautiful reminders of what could be. -tM

The Point of Power

The point of power really is in the present, isn’t it?

Once you have learned and hopefully grown from your past experiences and mistakes, there is no reason to venture back. I think that is also key to moving in the present, letting go of what once was. The future is something that is completely shaped by your present, its actions, intentions, and constant personal growth and evolve.

So accept what is. And be all in, whatever moment that may be. It takes practice and devotion. So today begin making it a point to be conscious of your own personal power. -tM

Garden Party

Being a child/adult who was raised and still lives in the heart of a city, I have always lounged on decks, balconies, or roof tops in times of extreme heat (I know, I know, hot air rises, but for some reason being on roof top also means you have found a kind of solitary freedom away from the rest). In saying that, I think that is the very reason that I have an affinity for gardens. I never fail to get lost in their beauty and bounty; there silent life force.

I miss the visual, the feeling of bare feet on the prickly yet soft grass floor. I am looking forward to spending more time in gardens this summer, finding peace in there ever promising hope for growth and renewal. -tM

New Discoveries: Blush Brush

laura_mercier_Glow_Powder_Brush___12704548-1.jpg

A new discovery.

A blush brush that is made to contour to your cheekbones. For those of you, like myself, who are always playing around with the perfect placement of blush, (esp. as the face changes with age) here is a fail proof way to powder your way to a sculpted face, giving the face the little optical illusion lift that it needs. And really, who doesn’t want those cheekbones to stand out a little more.

You could also use this to contour the face, nose, jaw line etc. With this magical wand you can make all of your cheekbone dreams come true. -tM

Looking Forward S/S19

I have always loved Bottega Veneta, from bags to clothes, however, I find this years, S/S 2019 campaign particularly inspiring. The creative team does such a great job at highlighting both the strength, femininity, and duality of the woman the brand itself designs for.

It is art in motion; fresh, casual, honest, and incredibly sexy. -tM

p.s. can we also take a moment in adoration to appreciate that python directors chair. Also, the choice in chair and its staging has not been lost on me. Again, brilliant campaign.

Winter Strolls

There is something to be said about embracing, or at the very least accepting every season for what it is. Finding beauty in those moments, after a storm, during a heat wave, in the middle of a downpour, or on a windy day reminds one to take pause. Look around, grab your lovers hand and take it slow. Because taking it slow, is sexy. -tM
