He is known for his provocative images and for setting a new stage for fashion photography. His photographs, at the time offered a radical alternative to the conventional fashion images. In my opinion, he was one of the first to bring a surreal and artistic quality to the world of fashion photography and marketing by dissecting the human form in order to highlight the item being featured. The above is one of his tame Polaroid's and really isn't reflective of his later work, however I like how even in it's simplicity, the pose beckons the viewer to move from the lips, to the torso, simultaneously down the legs, giving exposition to the swimsuit and heels in an unconventional way.

There is something risqué about entering Bourdin's world, voyeurism meets Alice in Wonderland and the unnerving nature of desire.
