People tell us who they are all of the time from the most subtle to the most obvious of ways.
I have been reflecting a lot lately on how timing plays into when, or if, we let certain individuals into our lives. Whether it is a friendship, a love interest, or a partner in life, we see them in a particular way and through a certain lens for an invariable amount of time. Then one day something shifts. Perhaps it is perspective, distance, on your part or theirs, that you begin to look at things from a different angle, with a new sense of self, and you realize that all of those in between moments have led you back to one of the first conversations you recall having with them; the circle has made its way to completion. And there you are, in the most obvious of ways finally hearing them tell you who they really are.
Often times we have to move through the experience ourselves in order to get out of our own way.
