I am really digging the photography of Luigi Ghirri lately. He is considered to be a pioneer and master of contemporary photography, with particular attention being paid to the relationship between fiction and reality.
I am specifically drawn to the quiet in his photography; the simplicity and stripped down scenic beauty of mundane places where life happens, with emphasis being placed on the universal as that of the local.
That being said, there is also the presence of nostalgia in each snapshot captured. The fade of the film, the time within which he shot his images all strike a personal chord with me. I love how photography, like a novel, can take you in and out of worlds and emotions with nothing more then just an image.
What about you? Are you finding interest in any particular photographer these days? -tM
