There used to be a time when making a phone call came with ritual.
Sometimes it included sitting down with coffee and cigarettes, other times a drink, and often it meant moving from floor to seat, from sitting to standing, to wrapping the cord around your index finger all while you kept to the beat and pulse of the exchange moving.
The evolution of communication has changed all of that. Sometimes I miss the ritual and the focus that it brought to connecting to the other without distraction; doodling on a cigarette pack aside. -tM
